Message Well, I am a very cautious guy when it comes to getting under my Z. I use 6 ton jack stands, and wood blocks and all kinds of stuff to make sure to doesn't make me into a messy pancake. I even made the wooden ramps for the front tires from 2x8's (from tech) this time to make the jacking up process easier.

So, I finished up my install on my Specialty Z catbacks and Z-1 one-piece driveshaft, and decided to start up the car while it was on the jack stands. That went well, and I quickly ran through a couple of gears just to check for strange noises and to hear the new exhaust tone.

After that I jacked the front up, took out the front jack stands, and had the front tires come down on the 2x8 ramps. I then went around the back and jacked the car up and off the rear jack stands, and YIKES, it started rolling backwards out of my garage. Lucky for me (thanks, God) that the driveway doesn't slope too much and I was able to stop the car by pushing on it. Probably, as the rear wheels touched the ground, the emergency brake helped a bit also.

The car had pushed over the rear jackstands, and fortunately was not damaged as the jackstands flopped over.

Things I did wrong: I remembered to pull the emergency brake after I started up the car when it was on top of the jack stands - however, I did not put it into gear. The most important lesson, howeverm was that I should have jacked the rear of the car down first so the rear wheels (you know, the ones controlled by the emergency brake) were on the ground first. And yes, maybe wheel chocks are a good idea, too. And no, I did not tell my wife about it.
